Our Horses
Tucker, Pistol Pete, Archie, Kaluki, Gibbs, Realize, Bey and Blaze.
Archie

Archie found his way to HorseSensing, after rough treatment as a children’s horse. We do not know what happened to Archie, but when he came to HorseSensing he was head shy and always protective of his back end. With the HorseSensing herd, he has found safety and a new job doing Horse Activities with guests at different events!
Pistol Pete

Pistol Pete is our Rockstar!!
He is a confident, friendly, engaging horse. He is curious and a practiced escape artist. He is also devoted to Foxy Lady, another mini on the farm. She does not seem to notice, but that does not stop Pistol Pete from watching out for her.
Tucker

Tucker is one of our Seniors, but still full of personality and always happy to engage with visitors. In fact, Tucker is less interested in other horses than people! There is one special young man who is very special to Tucker. The young man was brought to HorseSensing by his mother, hoping that interacting with horses might be an alternative therapy while the young man underwent cancer treatment. It just happened that Tucker was also not in good physical health at the time. Once they were introduced, boy and horse became fast friends supportive of each other as they struggled with their health. That was three years ago. The young man is now in remission and Tucker is fit and trim, his illness completely under control. Both horse and boy would tell you they healed each other, and witnesses would confirm that!
Kaluki

Kaluki is a beautiful, statuesque horse who shows in multiple classes! He is energetic and particular about his people. Kaluki suffered from PTSD, the result of bad experiences with humans. Many people do not know that horses can also suffer PTSD. Since coming to HorseSensing, Kaluki’s PTSD has improved greatly and he has slowly learned to trust again.
Gibbs

It is unanimous! Gibbs is an all-around favorite in the barn. He is a beautiful horse, has a great temperament and loves to work. And he likes to have fun! That could mean taking your hat off, nudging you from behind or giving you a little nibble here or there.
Blaze

Blaze is an especially important member of the herd. Horses always have a hierarchy within their herds, and each member needs to understand their place. It is Blaze’s job to teach young horses where they belong and he does it extremely well. Once a baby is weaned from its mother, they join Blaze in the pasture. With Blaze at their sides, young horses learn everything they need to know.
Realize & Bey

Realize and Bey are our retirees. They are a bonded senior pair, that have been put out to pasture. As a bonded pair, they are never apart. Realize holds a particular place of pride on the farm! He was the first HorseSensing program horse and traveled with Dr. Sally Broder and her husband from California to Kentucky! Once active horses in the HorseSensing stable, Realize and Bey now enjoy the leisurely pace of horse retirees, grazing, frolicking, and enjoying each other’s company.
